foam gaskets, make sure you use some sealent for extra protection.

Surface rust?? just wet and dry it, prime it and paint it.

poke a screwdriver at it, if its weak and or you can make a hole, it needs cutting out and new pieces welding on to the chassis, one inside one outside.

If that is so bad ,all way around the spare wheel, then cut whole piece out,and get 1.5mm thick replacement sheet of metal in.Was thinking of that too,but in the end got away with fabricating pieces in.

If anything has dodgy looking surface rust I attack it with a wire brush attachment on a grinder! If it makes a hole it needs replacing

Chassis rails are located to the rear of the car behind the rear wheels you cant miss them they are about 5" wide and they do tend to rot quite badly so poke around well with a screwdriver.

There is a liner inside the front wings, but the inner wings are inside the engine bay.

Rear valance is behind the rear bumper you should be able to check this without removing the bumper.

In all honesty mate you realy need to strip the whole interior out aswell because this is where you will find most of the hidden rust such as floor pans and inner sills, good luck at keep us posted on your progress.
