That's so far for the plans for the interior

BTW Carl, I'll need to call you again today to discuss some tech details, let me know when is the best UK time for me to call, HK is +8 hrs ahead from UK.
Call round 12,00 uk time ....that would be 8pm HK time

[UPDATE] 8th AUG 2012 GMT+8 11:00am was a memorable moment, the Saph has been released and landed on Hong Kong island

First thing is to go the shipping company office to exchange bill of lading to a delivery order

This guy is "Eddie", my chief technician and "fast roads driving" tutor in Hong Kong , owner of "LSD motor service", who is also very very good at coilover setting up and balancing. Carl must have heard much about his story from me.

"Eddie" will become the COSFATHER in the coming months.

Before collecting the Saph, we went for local breakfast!

Here comes the container, after over a month of sailing, is ready to be unsealed.

The seal of the container and my car key!!!

The most exciting moment! J915 TOB, you are back to papa!

First thing to do is to fuel up!

Then we are ready heading back to town and first thing is to do a check up at Eddie's garage.

YES, the road sign saids speed limit is 80!!!

Back in town, first time for the Saph in these scenery

Arrived at LSD motor service

Eddie went topless in this crazy 40'c hot weather, we were both sweating to death

Eddie's Lotus is next to the Saph

We then take the car back home on busy Hong Kong street.

Isn't this another epic photo for the year? A GB Saph in Hong Kong

We are going to climb another hill to reach my home

Saph prove to be weak in extremely hot weather, when climbing an up hill, fan was spinning, but coolant still went boiling

The car is now really home after all these months of road adventure and voyage, gave her a sweet bath in some local car wash shop

Congratulations!

Have you got a fan override switch hooked up? so you can turn the fans on yourself!
maybe look at bigger rad in S/S and i shoudl think you will be able to get an addative for running cars like this in hotter countrys?

Yes James, the previous owner had fitted a fan wiring loom from "Motorsports Development" into the car, since the factory one melted the fuse box which is a common problem I heard in the club. But the overriding switch was not connected.

I had bought a new 60mm radiator from AIRTEC and also a new set of fan, but I'm not sure what cause the problem, probably it's really too hot for the car as for 20 years the car had never been exposed and runned in such hot environment.

Thanks buddy, not just the car felt sick, Eddie also complained to me for asking him to drive the car in such hot day without A/C

Yes, I'm running an ultra low temp thermostat (72'c) on my VW, however me and Carl did not find any such low thermostat in UK but seems Carl got a plan for me

Thanks brother! do you mean I have to interchange them when wether changes? i.e. a large one for summer, a standard for winter?

Temp. info:

Summer no doubt average temp is 38'c - 40'c when sunlight becomes strong and sometimes no rains for a week, can reach to 45'c, but this is rare, probably only 1-2 days like this each summer.

Winter average temp is around 12'c - 15'c, rare circumstances will reach below 10'c, even so that will be few days.

Altitdude info:

On the Hong Kong island, the highest peak is "Victoria Peak" which is 552m

The Kowloon Peninsula and New territories side, peaks ranging from 577m - 957m

these info are meters measure above sea level.

As for fuel type, 93RON is standard, then 97RON, we also have Shell V-power available but no idea how much RON it's running

Shell v -power is 99 ron .....use this or 97 if you get stuck ......

Re-tune your saph to use 97 only ....and when using shell v power your saph will have more det protection. Any good tuner can set a saph up , old school technoilogy compared to modern stuff..

Fit the new rad and fans , fit thermostate housing i send with flow restrictor....

Renew coolant 4 ,liters coolant -3.5 liters pre-boiled water ...

I will look into the air quality settings ......altitude ..

[UPDATE] After 2 months of idle, the car is now back on road!!!

Just before the car was landed, I've been arranging the road permit for the Saph in Hong Kong, however there were some issues with my residential status after returning home so it wasn't smooth and my initial application was rejected. I was also busying on other things, plus it's still very hot in HK which it's absolutely not enjoyable in driving a car which's air cond. is broken so I wasn't rush at all and been setting it aside.

Weeks to weeks, I've been arguing with the transport department in HK on certain legal issues with my application. Anyone who knows me would know I like doing this and never give up if I believe I have a strong case.

The car had been landed for almost a month and I'm loosing my patient. In the view of that, I printed out the revenant laws, confronted the officer in charge and challenged him statue by statue as indicated in the following photo.

The executive officer who dealt with my case had found that he had no grounds to reject my application after an hour of interview with me, he said he'll need to obtain legal opinion from the "Department of Justice" with the legal facts that I raised and had promised to give me respond by 29th AUG.

The result prove that I was correct! This morning I received a call from the Transport Department and one of the staff told me that they are ready to issue my road permit. So I brought all the revelant documents including the V5C back to the Transport Department office to obtain my road permit which is called the "International Circulation Permit"

The following are the permit that I got, it has to be shown on the windscreen at any time when the car is on the road. Carl & Nick, if u bring ur Saph to visit me in HK, this is the document you'll need for your car, so bring ur V5C with you!!!

As you can see, the UK reg numbers is printed, as well as the chassis number for identification. FYI - this permit is free of charge, all you need is a valid 3rd party insurance certificate.

Another side of the road permit.

I decided to take the car for a walk on the roads, but I wasn't bothered in the day time, however the hot evening still.... 30'c inside the Saph is just like a night mare!

On one of the main street in HK, isn't this another epic photo?

After dinner, I took Mrs.Bob and the Saph to see my friends, tonight Mrs.Bob is our show car model.....

Some "Fast & Furious" pics.....

Stay tuned guys..... there will be more stories from Hong Kong coming

[UPDATE] First service outside UK for her life.....

After returning to HK, I've been busying on my career, I had also been committing other things i.e. Mrs.Bob, and even I had time I chosen to remain in bed

In the view of that, I rarely drive the cosworth, plus I always said... wether is too hot in here.

Eddie's business been very good, we so far had never been able to conclude any date for me to slot in to work out this big resto project, so what we can do is one by one.

Undertray condition still M1NT as hell, thx Carl!

Eddie can't undo this bolt, something wrong underneath there

Finally, Eddie managed to pull the bolt out without damaging the undertray by his clever skills and most importantly his patience!!! what a SUPERCAR caring standard technician!!!

Carl....

Dirty under engine!!!! I want CONCOURSE car!!!

Eddie then begin to diagnose the unstable idle rev problem, he stripped our the throttle body and ICV, very dirty, he then clean them by gasoline.

There were a few occations that the water temp. went high even the fan kicked in, Eddie believe it's probably faulty thermostac or something is blocking the flow of the coolant.

Seems Carl has a solution for us, we never know

This cover is also rotten, oil just splitted everywhere Carl......

We cannot find a suitable oil filter in HK, so we can only use something close, a BOSCH filter, but as u can see it is a lot smaller.

Probably it's really uncommon here in HK.... Eddie been looking around with parts supplier, but none of them knows what is EFL-90 or even heard of it.

Anyway, it works! and touchwood, no leaking

Eddie then tried to figure out how to replace the gasoline filter without reading any cosworth workshop manual

Then fook!!!! gasoline split everywhere

Bracket fixing also rotten, so cannot secure the filter, need to use bondage tapes

Finally, Eddie gave her a sweet bath

It then concluded by local dirty street mutton hotpot and beer for both of us

Not chips and burger just like in the UK with Carl

Whole service, including 5L Mobil oil, filters, throttle & ICV cleaning, car buffing, labour just 65 quid
